DIARY  OF  GREECE
MONDAY 23rd
The students, Davelis  and Nayat, were already with their two families  and host students – Agapi and Theano. The first day we had a celebration in the school of Egaleo where the greek students performed several typical dances. Finally, we received presents. That afternoon was free so that the students as well as teachers could enjoy with their new friends.
TUESDAY 24th
We  visited the archaeological museum in Athens where we could see the old statues and sculptures which were found in sites. The guide told us about the meaning and history of the  figures. After we went on a tour through the center of Athens till the time for lunch in the restaurant “Thanasis” where we could taste typical greek dishes such as kebab. In the afternoon we had the presentation of the dances prepared and performed by all the countries. The audience enjoyed and our students received many greetings for their great performance on Shakira “Waka Waka”. Finally, we were invited to special greek dinner at school.

WEDNESDAY 25TH
We had the trip to  Epidaurus and Nafplion.  During the journey we stopped in the Canal of Corinto and we reached the old theatre of Epidaurus where we had a nice time . Teachers from each country had to read or speak a few lines on a famous book in the centre of the theatre. The acoustic was perfect!! After we had lunch in the city of Nafplio, the former capital of Greece till 1930 approximately. The city has a lot of beautiful houses and a nice view of the sea. In the evening the teachers had dinner in “Attalos” a nice restaurant opposite the Acropolis.

THURSDAY  25th
This day we visited the Acropolis, the most outstanding architectural old site in Athens, It was built around the 5th century BC and most of it lacks many friezes and sculptures wuich were taken to Britain or Germany at  different times in the past.  After that we visited the New Acropolis Museum where most of the original sculptures from the Acropolis can be seen. The guide told us that , for example, the Cariatydes which are in the Temple of the Acropolis are not the original but a copy. The intention is to protect this authentic jewels of one of the most important civilizations. We had lunch there.
Teachers had dinner in the restaurant  “Anovolios” where we coud dance a lot to the rhythm of greek traditional music played  alive. It was a kind of farewell ceremony since many teachers were leaving the next day.

FRIDAY 27TH
This last day we only had a ceremony at school in Egaleo 3rd and ate greek food prepared by parents and members of the staff.  It was delicious. As many people had already left, only a group of teachers went to have dinner with our nice greek coordinators to a typical Tabern in the centre of Athens. However the weather was very cold  for us – 4 deegres – and we couldn’t stay out so long. Meanwhile the two students enjoyed of a fabulous day in a  Amusement Park with their greek friends.
On Saturday we just went out for our last day of shopping while the  students went to the mountains  with their host families . They  climbed to the top of the mountain in a cable car and could touch the snow in there.  The two greek families were really good and nice, and treated them really well.
Specially, Nayat greek host friend had a bad time when she said good bye.

See you in the next mobility!!
NAYAT, DAVELIS, GLORIA AND JOSE ANTONIO.
